Summary
George Alexander Long was widely known as the maker of the first telephone pay box. While working at Gray Telephone, Long invented and patented many components of the pay telephone, particularly the telephone toll apparatus (the coin box). It was Long’s inventions and patents that assured the company’s success. The collection contains lists of patents, treasurers’ records from Gray Telephone, and a list of contracts, 1932-1938.
