Summary
Collection includes account books and daybooks of blacksmiths in Tioga County, including Adam Gould of Owego, 1840-1849; Elisha Lew of Factoryville, 1854-67; Thomas Yates of Factoryville, 1840-77; an unidentified blacksmith of Newark and Owego, 1836-85; an unidentified blacksmith from the Honey Pot area, 1834-56; and an unidentified blacksmith, 1885. Also included is a shop book of the Sharpsteen Foundry, Owego, 1834-36; account books and daybooks of the Bristol and Robbins Foundry, 1860-71. Letters patent issued to Joel Farnham for the invention of a machine to process apples for a cider mill, 1825; letters patent signed by Secretary of State John C. Calhoun, issued to Henry W. Camp of Owego for an improvement in cooking stoves, 1844; and letters patent issued to Henry W. Camp and A.W. Fox of Owego for the invention of a corn planter, 1867.
