In the late 1970s, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and the University of Arizona joined together to contruct the Multiple-Mirror Telescope (MMT) at the Fred Lawrence Whipple Obervatory at Mt. Hopkins, Arizona. This videohistory discusses the development, design, contruction, and operation of the MMT. Interviewees include: Nathaniel Carlson, Frederic Chaffee, Craig Foltz, Thomas E. Hoffman, Aden Meinel, Michael Reed, Robert R. Shannon, Ray J. Weymann, Joseph T. Williams, and Fred Lawrence Whipple.
