The papers relate the growth of Howard's industrial catering business; his creation of the "Meals on Wheels" program for the elderly which has served as a national model; his membership in several Minneapolis business and civic organizations, including his status as the first Black admitted into a number of them; and his thoughts on contemporary Black issues as revealed in several of his speeches.
