Abigail Phelps is a facilitator in Spark!Lab, the Lemelson Center's hands-on invention space. She earned a BS in elementary education and spent a few years teaching in Maryland, before taking her expertise international. Abigail spent three years in China, one in Beijing and two in Macau, teaching English. While there, she enjoyed traveling and learning about other cultures, and fulfilled a lifelong dream of hugging a panda! When she returned to the United States, Abigail began to explore informal education, leading her to various internships at NMAH and then a position in Spark!Lab, helping visitors explore their world and exercise their creativity and inventiveness. In her free time, Abigail likes to dance, bicycle, and knit.
