Summary
Items relating to two patents: the first a patent letter (1830), signed by Andrew Jackson, written to Joseph V. Hughes, Pottsville, Pa., relating to Hughes's invention for an improvement for railroad carriages; and the second (1876), a patent issued to John P. Onderdonk, Philadelphia, Pa., for improvements in making umbrella coverings, granted by Queen Victoria of England. The latter document is attached to an eight inch diameter tin circular container which contains a large seal of the queen on her throne.
