Correspondence chiefly during the presidency of John Work Garrett, relating to the procurement of iron and steel, litigation over patent rights and sale of patented inventions, the purchase, manufacture, repair, and allotment of railroad cars, and the extension of the Baltimore and Ohio system to include the Central Ohio and the Phio and Mississippi Railroads. According to the B&O RR Transportation Museum, most of the account books for this company were lost in the 1904 Baltimore fire. In any case, the company only had a 20 year retention plan for their records. This collection is ON LOAN TO the B&O Railroad Museum as of 1 Jun 1995. Finding aid at link below; however, please contact the B&O RR Museum Library to make an appointment for use: 410-752-2493.
