Summary

Research and Development subgroup (lab notebooks mainly); legal correspondence; product engineering and manufacturing drawings; museum objects (breadboards, prototypes, and a few "homegrown" manufacturing devices); test data and photographs generated during the development and product engineering processes. Patent-related materials: prior art files in Ray Dolby's personal papers; papers (notes, correspondence) of some research engineers specifically involved in patent issues; early correspondence with patent attorneys in the UK and US; oral histories from these same individuals. Information Resources Department maintains reference files on Dolby and related patents requested from USPTO during the R&D process; Consumer Division's Intellectual Property Department maintains a set of all Dolby patents with consumer applications.
