Summary
Collection consists of patents, drawings, and photographs, associated with the business of Ernest Kaufmann of Philadelphia, 1863-1868. The patents were issued for a butter cooler, two ice pitchers, a tea urn, and tea set. The butter cooler patent was issued jointly to Kaufmann and Antony Weber. Attached to all patents are drawings or photographs of the items being patented. in the case of the buuter cooler and urn, the patent is for a new way way of making the item. The other patents are for decoratrive designs; the patents do not specify whether the items was meant to be Britannia ware or silverplated ware. The collection also includes photos and drawings for several communion sets; these items were probably intended to be pages in a catalog since the items are numbered.
