Summary
Papers collected by Crawford concerning his interests in the beginning of the motion picture and its inventors, and in the beginning of sound film. The collection contains his correspondence in the late 1920s and early 1930s with many film pioneers then still living, and some original documents from the historic period which interested him. Some of the more significant subjects are Lee De Forest, W.K.L. Dickson, Thomas Alva Edison, William Friese-Greene, Eugene Lauste, Bell Laboratories, film apparatus, L.A. Augustin LePrince, and Georges Melies. Material consists of correspondence, photographs of inventors and inventions, and catalogs and patents about inventions. In addition, scrapbooks of news clippings of Crawford's column in Motion pictures today during the mid-1920s.
