Summary
The Motion Picture Patent Company (MPPC) was formed as early as 1908 as a consortium of producers and camera manufacturers who controlled not only technology, but also distribution-monopolized markets, and patents. The MPPC pooled their patents. This united Edison Manufacturing Company, American Mutoscope and Biograph Company, Vitagraph Company of America, and Armat Moving Picture Company. The MPPC’s power lay in their patents of motion picture equipment. The records contain briefs and other legal records, newspaper clippings, and related printed matter in connection with the case of the United States v. Motion Picture Patents Company.
