Before you arrive at the museum, make a list of the students in your group.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN SPARK!LAB
Activity Stations
Your group can start anywhere!
The purple signs at each station provide a prompt and historical information that explains the task at hand.
Materials to invent a solution to the challenge are provided.
The materials for each activity station should be left at that station when done inventing.
The Hub "Make and Take" Station
Students can sketch their own invention that address the provided prompts.
Students can use the various materials to create their own prototype based around the theme.
Students are invited to take their invention with them.
Supplies and equipment other than the students’ inventions must remain in Spark!Lab.
The Thinking Spot
Students can browse books to explore invention processes, learn about a diverse group of inventors, and how ideas are formed.
Students can engage in self-guided activities by completing the challenges on the bookmarks.
This is a great space for students who might want time to themselves.
ENGAGING WITH STUDENTS
Encourage your group to read directions (look for the purple signs!) and other relevant information.
Monitor students for behavior and safety for your group and others in the space.
Don’t hesitate to ask volunteers in yellow aprons for help.
Ask students questions about their invention. Then, help them find answers through dialogue.
