Summary

Letters of a business and personal nature, to and from Roland Russell Dennis. Also in the collection are European and American patents, legal and financial papers concerning patents, corporate and personal statements of accounts, bills and receipts, Civil War appointments and an appointment as a special agent to investigate trade conditions in Europe, letter press copy books, account books, an address book, advertisements, clippings, and miscellaneous memorabilia. Letters have been indexed from William Henry Seward, William Henry Seward III and William Henry Seward IV, Anna D. Meyers Seward, Andrew Dickson White, Wendell Phillips Garrison, Charles Dana Gibson, Oscar Solomon Straus, William Renwick Riddell, Frederick James Volney Skiff, and Albert Bigelow Paine. Dennis was the European agent for Whitman and Barnes Company, which was concerned with the promotion of farm machinery and rubber horseshoes. Papers contain business and personal correspondence, European and American patents, and legal and financial papers concerning patents.
