The Rotch Family of Nantucket and New Bedford, Massachusetts were chiefly involved in the whaling industry. The family papers include the personal papers of Francis Rotch (1750-1822). Included in his papers are specifications and patents for improvements in whaling and fishing equipment and other devices.
