Summary
Reuben “Rube” Lucius Goldberg was born July 4, 1883 in San Francisco, CA. After receiving hs B.S. in 1904, he designed sewer pipes for the San Francisco Sewer Department. Goldberg eventually became a sportwriter and cartoonist and created the comic strips “Boob McNutt,” “Mike and Ike-They Look Alike,” and “Foolish Questions.” Goldberg was also an inventor. He invented an automatic stamp licker activated by a dwarf robot and he sculpted in bronze and clay. This interview of Rube Goldberg was conducted by Emily Nathan for Radio Smithsonian.
