Summary

A Detroit dentist, Dr. Land was an innovator and an inventor in the dental field, developing and patenting numerous tools, equipment, and techniques. A few papers relating to Dr. Land's dental practice, but most relating to his inventions and innovations in the dental field. Papers include 4 photographs, including two of Dr. Land at work; letters, only one written by Dr. Land, most written after his death and relating to matters such as honors bestowed on him; writings, some by Dr. Land, while others about him appear to be by his son; patent documents; financial documents, mostly invoices for products and materials ordered by Dr. Land; printed material such as medical journals and articles; and two miscellaneous documents: a mining license, 1909, issued to Land, and a tax document relating to the distribution of opium. Six sermons, 1860-1863, are by an unknown author.
